Sometimes it’s hard to remember that Yohji Yamamoto’s success with complex, experimental garments is necessarily rooted in a real understanding of tailoring to the shape of a body. By deviating from this, he must know how to observe it as well – so it’s particularly exciting to see garments that remind us of this particular talent. This Yohji Yamamoto suit is unusual in that it is so basic. WIth the exception of the small flap on one hip, it’s an excellent rendition of a familiar look – this suit shows off an entirely different side of the designer, a side that’s more difficult to see in his other garments. It’s perhaps the only Yohji Yamamoto suit you can wear anywhere!
